Nomination

Nominations refer to candidates standing for election or lists of such candidates.

Bundestag elections

In Bundestag elections there are constituency nominations, these may be a party's candidate, an individual candidate not running for a party, and Land lists of parties. Constituency nominations have to be submitted to the respective constituency returning officer, land lists to the respective Land returning officer. The nomination has to be approved by the constituency electoral committee or Land electoral committee.

European Parliament elections

In European elections there are joint lists for all Länder and individual lists for one Land. Both joint lists for all Länder and individual lists for one Land may be established either by parties or by other political associations. They have to be submitted to the Federal Returning Officer. The Federal Electoral Committee decides on the admission of the lists.
