All Germans as defined in Article 116 (1) of the Basic Law and all citizens of the other Member States of the European Union (Union citizens) who have attained the age of sixteen years on election day are entitled to vote. The age at which a person is entitled to vote in for European elections has been lowered the first time for the election in 2024.
The age of eighteen must still be attained on election day in order to be eligible to stand for election.
