European Elections Act (EuWG)
The election to the European Parliament is conducted in the Federal Republic of Germany according to the Act on the Election of Members of the European Parliament from the Federal Republic of Germany (European Elections Act – EuWG). It specifies the provisions of the Direct Elections Act for European Elections in the Federal Republic of Germany. To that end, the European Elections Act includes detailed regulations regarding the electoral system, the electoral bodies, the right to vote and to stand for parliament, on voting and the establishment of the election result.
The following is specified in the three parts of the European Elections Act:
- election of the members of the European Parliament from the Federal Republic of Germany (Sections 1 to 20)
- attainment and loss of membership of the European Parliament (Sections 21 to 24)
- final provisions (sections 25 to 30)
