Refreshment allowance
Those serving in an electoral post receive a refreshment allowance for their services. 35 euros are paid to the chairpersons of the electoral boards and electoral committees, and 25 euros to all other members.
The amounts paid may be higher or lower in situations where the Länder or municipalities set the refreshment allowance amount.
If poll workers work outside their polling district, they are also compensated for any necessary travel expenses. If poll workers perform their duties outside their place of residence, they receive a daily allowance - and an accommodation allowance if applicable - in accordance with the Federal Travel Expenses Act. The refreshment allowance must be deducted from any daily allowance paid.
